Dick Prince enters Chapter Eternal

Brother Dick Prince, Beta Phi ’71, died June 20, 2013, after a short bout with pancreatic cancer.  He was 63.

Brother Prince was born Sept. 7, 1949, in Oakland, Calif., the third of five children. He grew up in Orinda, Calif., and attended Campolinda High School.

Prince pledged Beta Phi in 1967 and after playing two years on a football scholarship, he transferred to the University of California at Berkeley, where he graduated in 1971 with a degree in psychology. That same year, Dick married his high school sweetheart, Linda Strecker.

Dick and Linda settled in Napa, built a home, and had two daughters. He opened Sawtooth Cabinetry in Napa in 1975, and continued in the cabinetry business for 30 years.

After retiring in 2007, he and Linda made a second home in San Pancho, Mexico. There he achieved his childhood dream to live in a jungle tree house. He loved nature and was an amateur herpetologist and avid bird watcher.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda (Strecker) Prince; daughters, Amber (Prince) Orozco and Heather (Prince) Hartgrave, three grandchildren, two brothers and a sister.

A memorial was held July 28, 2013 in Sonoma, Calif.

            All honor to his name.
